Unit Introduction:

Tissue culture generally refers to the growth of cells from a tissue from a multicellular organism in vitro. These cells may be cells isolated from a donor organism, "primary cells", or an immortalized cell line. The cells are bathed in a culture medium, which contains essential nutrients and energy sources necessary for the cells' survival.

Tissue culture lab in MASRI started preparation, training of crew and working under supervision of the Italian tissue culture expert Silvia Porta 1996.

The unit has been undergoing complete renovation, whether at the infrastructure level or at the hardware level 2019.

Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, promotes the repair response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells or their derivatives. It is the next chapter in organ transplantation and uses cells instead of donor organs, which are limited in supply.

Activities:

  1. Preserving to different cell types and changing media
  2. Maintain different cell types using liquid nitrogen
  3. Isolate stem cells from
    1. Blood bone marrow.
    2. Umbilical cord blood.
    3. Adipose tissue
  4. Preserving the intermediate stem cells and using them in various medical applications.
  5. Raw stem cell synthesis in several cell types according to added growth factors.
  6. For example: fat cells, osteoplast, neurons, cells.
  7. Maintaining cell lines and using them as an in vitro model of treatment and MTT examination.
  8. Dyeing several types of cells according to their types.
  9. Live and dead cells.
  • Some assistant teachers and faculty members attend workshops to take advantage of the laboratory's capabilities.

  • Stem cells isolation from the umbilical cord, spinal cord and fat cells for use in medical applications in the research field.

  • Stem cells will be used after being

                                                      converted into bone cells
